Raising Money for the Louis T. Festo Memorial Scholarship Fund
Our Mission Statement
The Louis T. Festo Memorial Scholarship Fund is dedicated to helping individuals in financial need, who are continuing their education through a scholarship program awarded to graduating senior students of Newburyport High School, Newburyport Ma and Timberlane Regional Plaistow, NH. The focus of these funds will also be directed towards deserving students in good academic standing and with a proven record of helping others within his or her community. They should exhibit a keen desire to apply the necessary dedication to succeed in advancing their education and career goals. Our scholarships are awarded to Football players who will continue to play at the collegiate level and or students who will be pursuing a career in the music field. Our High Flyer Music Program will allow us to donate the gift of music by providing music instruments or lessons to a child who wants to learn but cannot afford.
In Memory of Lou
10/27/1955 – 6/26/2012Louis T. Festo was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts October 27, 1955. His interest in music was sparked at an early age by his Father who often played the piano and sang. Lou became a gifted musician entertaining thousands throughout his thirty-five plus year professional career as a talented songwriter and guitarist. His devotion to his craft garnered the respect and admiration of fellow professional musicians and audiences alike. That same patience, passion, and fortitude touched the hearts of so many more. Louie always remained “True to himself.” When Lou wasn’t playing guitar he was enjoying sports, football being his favorite. At Newburyport High School in 1973, “Louie” led the “Clippers” to the Cape Ann Championship. Lou was a three year starter and All Star Quarterback. After a brave fight, Lou succumbed to cancer June 26, 2012. Lou’s spirit lives on in his family, friends, and those he inspired. Each year, the Louis T. Festo Memorial Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to students graduating from Newburyport High School and Timberlane Regional High School. The scholarship Fund will also provide instruments or lessons to a child that desires to learn but cannot afford to do so.
